Netflix is one of the platforms streaming most popular in the world, but, despite having a wide range of entertainment and increasing costs, it has generated the abandonment of thousands of subscribers, bringing with it a severe economic blow.
Due to this, the company has been forced to cancel several projects, including the animated series Pearlwhich would be produced by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.
Recently, Netflix recorded 200,000 subscriber drops worldwide. In addition, in 2021 it registered the lowest customer growth since its creation, so the company already anticipates the loss of more than two million subscribers.
To adjust to this new reality, Netflix has canceled various projects, including Pearlan animated series in which the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, would serve as executive producer.
Pearl would come to the screen as an animated series for children and would focus on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who is inspired by influential women in history to unleash her imagination.
Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.

However, all is not lost, Pearl could reach the screen with the help of another platform streamingas the original project is owned by Archewell Productions, a production house created by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to create programming that informs, uplifts and inspires others.
Now it only remains to wait for the dukes to receive proposals from other platforms or perhaps a television station so that their animated project can see the light.
