This Wednesday, Amazon Prime revealed the first trailer for the movie “My Policeman” starring British actor and singer Harry Styles, in which he plays a gay policeman who follows the parameters of conservative society and marries a woman, although he keeps feeling attracted to other men.
The film, directed by the British Michael Grandage and based on the homonymous novel by the writer Bethan Roberts published in 2012, also takes us 40 years later when Tom and Marion share a stable marriage that has been consolidated over the decades.
However, the past returns to their lives when she agrees to welcome Patrick into her home after he suffered a stroke and needed to be assisted by others in the face of a delicate state of health. It is then that the feelings that he and Tom had long ago reemerge, turning their lives upside down.
Starring Harry Styles is Emma Corrin (The Crown) as Marion, Tom’s wife, and David Dawson (Peaky Blinders) as Patrick, an art curator who works at the city’s museum.
The cast of the film adaptation is completed by Rupert Everett, Linus Roache, Gina McKee, Jack Bandeira, Andrew Tieman, Kadiff Kirwan, Richard Dempsey, Maddie Rice, Dora Davis, Pierre Bergman, Ian Drysdale and Róisín Monaghan.
Harry Styles makes his way into his acting career
The former member of One Direction had already made his debut on the big screen with minor roles in films like Dunkirk and Eternals, however, “My Policeman” is his first leading role.
The film “Don’t Worry Darling” is also expected to be released in the coming months, which also stars Styles and Florence Pugh, and directed by Olivia Wilde (Harry’s current partner), on a journey of psychological terror in which both will give life to a marriage.
While making his way as an actor in Hollywood, the interpreter of “Golden” continues to tour the world giving concerts and promoting his new album “Harry’s House”.
“My Policeman” will be released in theaters on October 21 and can be seen in the Prime Video catalog from November 4.
