The contest Miss Universe has changed the most controversial rules, including those that have to do with maternity and menstruation.
As of October 2022, the beauty contest is now run by transgender businesswoman Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip and it was she who changed the basic rules.
This is how the rules of Miss Universe have changed
the main change it is that it seeks to break stereotypes, be more inclusive and allow more women to participate. These are some of the modifications:
- Women with children and married will now be able to participate.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women as well.
- Divorced women will be allowed to join.
- The age limit to file remains 28 years but it is expected that this requirement will also change soon.

Controversies of Miss Universe
In the first edition of the contest, the Finnish Armi Helena Kuusela, 17, was crowned the most beautiful woman in the world. However, ten months later she renounced her reign to marry the businessman Virgilio Hilario.

The Venezuelan Alicia Machado was Miss Universe in 1996 and that same year, Donald Trump became the owner of the contest. The businessman called on the media to record the winner training while he criticized the different parts of her body.
