Talk about michael jackson is to refer to one of the greatest legends that the art of music has left.
Jackson was an American singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer. He is popularly recognized as the “King of Pop”.
His contributions and recognition in the history of music and dance for more than four decades, as well as his highly publicized personal life, have made him an international figure in popular culture.
That is why it has always been in the news and it seems that it will never stop being so: Now it has come to light that the managers and legal managers of Jackson’s estate are negotiating with the Sony Music company to sell half of the rights to the work of the renowned singer.
What has been leaked from these negotiations through various North American media is that the purchase agreement would be around 900 million dollars.
If so, this would make it the largest such contract ever signed in history.
If it comes to fruition, Sony would have 50% of the income obtained from the commercialization of the artist’s publishing rights.
This includes, in addition to the benefits from the sale of its music catalogue, those obtained from the Broadway show “MJ: The Muscial”. Also for the biographical film, “Michael” that will star the artist’s nephew, as well as other assets.
Jackson is recognized as the “most successful musical artist of all time” by Guinness World Records. He also ranks sixth on the list of “the highest paid dead celebrities of 2022.”
The singer’s posthumous estate concentrates much of the industry’s most lucrative assets.
During his career, Sony and CBS were the only managers in charge of his record catalogue. But once dead, his estate was left in the hands of his lawyer Branca and John McClain.
He began his artistic career in the mid-1960s with the musical group The Jackson 5. On the morning of June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson suffered a cardiac arrest at his rented mansion in Holmby Hills and was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. pm, after several attempts at cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
