Last week, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry traveled to London to join Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration. This was a special moment for the monarch, because, in addition to having festivities that lasted for four days throughout the United Kingdom, she had the opportunity to meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor, daughter of the Dukes of Sussex.
The visit coincided with the little girl’s first birthday, so on June 4, her parents organized a picnic at Frogmore Cottage. According to sources close to the royal family, close family and friends attended Lilibet’s intimate and informal celebration in Windsor.
The images of the celebration were shared on social networks by the photographer Misan Harriman, a friend of Harry and Meghan. One of them shows Lilibet alone for the first time, who wears a light blue dress and a white bow on her red hair as she looks smiling at the camera during her birthday party.
It was a privilege to celebrate Lilibet’s first birthday with my family and hers! Joy and face painting everywhere.
The second daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was born on June 4, 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, in California, United States. Her little girl was given her first name in honor of the affectionate nickname by which Queen Elizabeth II is known, while her middle name is in honor of her grandmother and Harry’s mother, Lady Di. Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor is eighth in line to the British throne.
More than $100,000 in donations to the World Central Kitchen organization were made by people around the world in honor of Lilibet’s first birthday, for which the Duke and Duchess have expressed their gratitude, feeling “incredibly touched”.
