Since her introduction in 1980, She-Hulk has had an extensive list of loves, including Wyatt Wingfoot, Tony Stark, Hecules and many more.
Armed with a sensational wardrobe, muscles and a crushing intellect, Jennifer Walters, better known as She-Hulk, does not settle for less than what she deserves in life. But her desire to perfectly balance a demanding law career, heroic duties, love, and personal fulfillment would be nearly impossible for anyone, even the Hulk!
Do not miss: Why does She-Hulk break the fourth wall?
As seen in She-Hulk (2022), it’s not easy being green, restarting a career, or a female superhero living in New York City, never mind all three at once.
A former member of the Avengers and Fantastic Four, She-Hulk is known for reinventing herself throughout the pages of Marvel comics, from becoming a bounty hunter to carefully committing to anger management.
Despite her ability to conquer enemies as the unstoppable Champion of the Universe, she has had a hard time finding a suitable match for herself. Of course, that hasn’t stopped Walters from experimenting with a variety of relationships, including fun flings, one-night stands, rebounds, and serious romantic relationships.
Recall that in She-Hulk #19 (2005), Walters was required under oath to list all of his lovers, and it took the stenographer quite a few pages to document it all!
These are some of She-Hulk’s most important romantic partners and how they shaped the way she views love and sex.
Wyatt Wingfoot
During her time with the Fantastic Four, Jenn met Wyatt Wingfoot, Johnny Storm’s roommate, also known as the Human Torch. Wyatt gave Jennifer the compassion and understanding she needed to adjust to her role as the savior of her world.
In the 1980s, the couple dated from time to time and even got engaged. Despite her wedding promise in The Sensational She-Hulk: Ceremony (1989), the couple separated so that Jen could focus on her superhero life and Wyatt could serve as Community Chief for her Keewazi. her.
While their romance didn’t last, the two parted ways amicably. They are still considered the benchmark by which all of their future romances are judged.
Tony Stark
In Savage She-Hulk(1980), Jennifer Walters is not a fan of Tony Stark for various reasons, mainly the way she views the Hulks and her desire to control their powers.
However, the pair have hooked up over and over again. They even tried something a little more serious in She-Hulk (2005), but the couple never lasts.
Though Stark thinks it’s okay for him to act when inspiration strikes, he sees it as reckless when Jennifer does the exact same thing.
Zapper
Throughout Jennifer’s first solo series, Savage She-Hulk (1980), medical student Daniel Ridge, aka Zapper, played a role in her early love life.
Before becoming She-Hulk, Jennifer was her next door neighbor and former babysitter. In these earlier issues, Jennifer struggled to balance her immense physical power with the daily pressures of life as a new Hulk. As a childhood friend, Zapper stood by her side, adding a sense of normalcy to her outlook on life that changed forever.
The pair eventually dated, but Zapper ultimately betrayed Jennifer in Savage She-Hulk (1980) #19 by taking her to an experimental facility in the name of science.
Between this and his jealousy of her other lover, Richard Rory, Jennifer gave up love altogether and retreated to the desert, seeking solitude. Due to this traumatic event, he is one of the few humans Jennifer has ever dated.
luke cage
Before Luke Cage married Jessica Jones, he was part of a group called Heroes for Hire and took on odd jobs that only people with superpowers could do for cash.
In Heroes For Hire (1997) #17, Cage ended up dating She-Hulk after winning a bet between them on a job. However, the date did not last long, as it was quickly interrupted by Titania and the Absorbing Man.
However, Walters was impressed by Cage’s strength and quick thinking in battle, leading her to date him for some time. Though the two didn’t last, Cage expanded on Walter’s closed-minded perception of “convicts” and “ex-cons,” which was a valuable lesson, especially for a lawyer.
Hercules
Throughout her run of breaking the fourth wall of Sensational She-Hulk (1989), Jennifer Walters frequently fantasized about crushing Hercules. Then, in Sensational She-Hulk (1989) #25, Jennifer finally met the man of her dreams.
However, she later learned that he does not get along with women who express equal views, or possess strength equal to his.
Plus, at the time, Hercules didn’t care too much if his heavenly battles hurt civilians on Earth, a huge deal breaker for the ever-merciful Jennifer Walters. In She-Hulk (2005) #30, one of Hercules’ pious fights on Earth drew Jennifer’s attention and frustration.
She settled the dispute, protected Earth, subdued Hercules, slept with him, and then kicked him out of her house the next morning.
John Jameson III
J. Jonah Jameson’s son, THE Werewolf, is the only person She-Hulk has ever married. After nearly dying in the events of Civil War (2006), the Man-Wolf and She-Hulk began dating. However, the situation surrounding their future partnership was thrown into complications thanks to Thanos’ brother, Eros, aka Starfox.
In She-Hulk (2005), Walters found out that Starfox influenced her to take care of the Man-Wolf. Once she learned that truth, she decided to annul her union. They broke up because Jennifer felt that she would never know what aspects of her romance were real compared to what the Psionic Eternal would have her believe.
Jack of Hearts
In She-Hulk (2022), Jennifer Walters was reunited with fellow Avenger Jack of Hearts. When she showed up at her apartment, she had no recollection of her death from Avengers Disassembled, where her explosive death killed Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, in the crossfire. All he remembered was that he wanted to see Jennifer and didn’t remember how she found her apartment.
She-Hulk was tired of interacting with him, as his radioactive powers are notoriously difficult to control and once caused her to lose control as well. However, Jack is far less powerful than before, as it appears that he has lost his ability to fly or even conquer a pizza box with his (currently non-existent) non-fluid energy blasts.
While Jennifer readjusts to her new career as Mallory Brooke’s superhero lawyer, Jack stays at her house as a guest and relearns how to do human things like cook lasagna for dinner and write poems.
In She-Hulk (2022) #6, Jack’s radioactive powers dropped “lower than a cell phone,” a fact that comforted them both. Jack was relieved to be powerless and to explore more of his humanity, which captivated Jennifer. The two then kissed and took their relationship to She-Hulk’s room.
