Kevin Feige announced that Matt Shakman will be in charge of directing Fantastic Four, a feature film that will mark the arrival of the first family of The House of Ideas to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Shakman has already worked on Marvel Studios productions and was the director of the WandaVision series, the first proposal for phase four of the MCU.
Shakman’s career has been developed on television, directing episodes of series such as Ugly Betty, House MD Pshych, Mad Men, Game of Thrones and The Boys, among the most outstanding, while in the cinema he only has one tape in his career, Cut Bank.
Shakman arrives in place of Jon Watts, who in 2022 announced his departure from the Fantastic Four, after having directed the three Spider-Man films in the MCU.
And the protagonists?
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, pointed out that the only official thing at the moment is the incorporation of Matt Shakman to the direction of Fantastic Four, but he did not give details of the cast that will be integrated into this production.
In social networks, the campaign to keep John Krasinski as the interpreter of Reed Richards continues, while rumors also arose about the casting of Jodie Cormer as Sue Storm. Both news are not officially confirmed
Fantastic Four has come to the cinema three times, the first in a 1994 film, which came direct to video. 20th Century Fox produced the 2005 Fantastic Four, and the 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, both directed by Tim Story.
In 2015, filmmaker Josh Trank directed the reboot of this team in a film that passed with more pain than glory in theaters, whose sequel was immediately cancelled.
