It is almost half a year since the spectacular ‘The Batman’ starring Robert Pattinson came to our movie theaters with what is probably the best cinematographic approximation to the Caped Crusader that our eyes have seen. Since then, many of us have celebrated the announcement of its sequel, and finally we have something more solid what to celebrate
Turning on the Bat-signal
As reported by Deadline, screenwriter Mattson Tomlin —who also directed ‘Mother/Android’— is at work writing the script for ‘The Batman 2’ with Matt Reeves. The director will once again go behind the scenes in this sequel that will once again feature Robert Pattinson in the role of Gotham City’s masked vigilante.
The collaboration between Tomlin and Reeves comes after their work on the first ‘The Batman’. During the writing process, its director and co-writer —along with Peter Craig— ran into trouble diving into the third act and decided to contact Tomlinwhom he met in ‘Mother/Android’ to give the film a proper closure.
As expected, the details about the history of ‘The Batman 2’ remain kept under lock and key, and we don’t expect them to come to light anytime soon. Only time will tell if we will see Barry Keoghan’s Joker again —whose appearance in the original film was anecdotal— or if we will choose to tackle some other less hackneyed villain —my kingdom another thriller with Victor Zsasz or the Mad Hatter as antagonists— .

What we do know is that the commissioning of ‘The Batman 2’ comes after Matt Reeves has signed on. a multi-year deal with Warner Bros. and Warner Bros. Television to develop different feature films and series. A most interesting maneuver to try to alleviate the latest decisions that have severely damaged the company in economic terms.
Reeves has celebrated his signing with this brief release:
“Making this legendary studio my home is a dream come true. I am so excited to be working with Mike, Pam and Channing and our teams to bring compelling stories that I am truly passionate about to the big and small screen.”
