In a recent interview the Russo brothers have compared The Gray Man with the UCM movies:
“It’s different in the sense that when you’re shooting a Marvel movie, there’s a certain trust in the audience’s emotional connection to the historical points in the story, and you know you’ll be able to generate shorthand. You’ll be able to build hype for pre-existing story points or reward moments, or character appearances, in a way that when you start from scratch, you won’t.”
“I think the work that we did at Marvel, and the work that Markus and McFeely did there, allowed us to understand storytelling on a grand scale in a way where we can strongly connect with audiences by presenting characters with narrative efficiency and in a way that they can become attached to them more quickly.”
The movie The Gray Man will be released on July 15, 2022 in Netflix, so hopefully we’ll get a trailer soon. While deliveries of Marvel can be enjoyed in the Disney Plus streaming platform.
