MCU star Mark Ruffalo, who will reprise his long-standing role as the Hulk for the Disney+ series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), supported the Marvel franchise and its constant expansion of the MCU Universe, commenting on the versatility of his films, but instead criticizing the repetitive results of the franchise ‘Star Wars’.
Marvel variety versus Star Wars repetition
Ruffalo chatted with Metro.co.uk about a alleged excess of Marvel content:
“It’s not something that worries me. I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes. But what Marvel has done well is that within the MCU, just like they do with the comics, they allow a director or an actor to recreate each piece in their own style, in their own likeness. Marvel generally allows them to bring that back to previous material.”
Nevertheless, Ruffalo mentioned another beloved franchise that he believes he hasn’t had the same expertise as Marvel in keeping his success fresh.
“If you watch ‘Star Wars,’ you’ll pretty much have the same ‘Star Wars’ every time. It might have a little bit of humor. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world. But with Marvel you can have a completely different feeling, even within the Marvel Universe.”
‘She-Hulk: Lawyer She-Hulk’ opens on August 18 and will have a new chapter every Thursday. It will feature cameos from the Universe, such as Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, and a different comedy tone than the rest of the Marvel movies and series.
