He won the lottery and said the winning numbers were revealed to him in “a dream.” It is the incredible story of Alonzo Coleman, a retired military man, originally from Virginia, United States, who won a prize of 250 thousand dollars in the state Bank a Million drawing, held on June 11.
The Bank a Million game allows players to choose six different numbers from one to 40, for a chance to win $250,000, $500,000 and $1 million, after taxes, depending on whether the person bets two dollars or splits the bet in two or four ways.
Coleman, whose age was not revealed, invested two dollars in the “play your way” mode and chose the unusual combination that beat the odds: 1, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, plus the bonus ball that was the number 19, for which he took home $250,000 in one of the series played. According to lottery officials, the chances of winning the million dollar prize are one in 3.8 million.
When he purchased the ticket with four sets of numbers for the drawing, Coleman told Virginia Lottery officials that he used numbers that occurred to him in a dream. Describing the moment he realized his dream had come true, he said:
It’s kind of hard to believe, but I swear it’s true. This is something I dreamed of. The reality of what just happened hasn’t hit me yet.
