In 2016, Kim Kardashian was the victim of robbery and kidnapping. During her stay in Paris, France, a criminal group known as “The Grandfather Thieves” stole $10 million worth of jewelry from the businesswoman, including her wedding ring.
Six years after what happened, Yunis Abbas, who was in prison 22 months after committing the crime, spoke in an interview for vice-news and stated that he did not feel sorry for anything.
Yunis Abbas portrayed himself as a modern-day Robin Hood, claiming that Kim “brags too much” about material goods. Furthermore, he confessed that he had never paid attention to Kim, until he watched one of the episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashiansin which the socialite loses one of her diamond earrings, valued at 75 thousand dollars, after swimming in Bora Bora.
Since he kept wasting money, well, I was there to pick it up and that’s what happened. I feel guilty? No, I don’t mind, not at all.
I got on the internet and there I saw everything, it’s true. I saw her jewelry, her rings and I saw that she showed it off without any hesitation and I learned all of that on her social media… I also saw her show and that episode of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ in which she threw a diamond ring into the pool. And I thought: ‘she has a lot of money and this lady doesn’t care about anything’.

Abbas gave details about the robbery and said that it was not difficult to find Kim’s jewelry, since all the information was on the businesswoman’s social networks. Later, he and “The grandparents thieves” learned that the businesswoman would be at Paris Fashion Week and would stay at the Hotel De Pourtales, located in the VIII district, one of the exclusive areas of the region.
We surrounded every corner of the hotel from midnight the day before and waited for the right moment. Her sisters left the room, they were accompanied by her bodyguard and Kim was left alone without security support.
We entered through the little door that was open from the inside. As soon as we walk in, we take control of the concierge. We dominate it, we bind it; then we look for the keys to the bedroom he stayed in.
I stayed downstairs with the concierge, but my two colleagues went upstairs to Madame Kardashian’s room. At that time, ‘The grandparents of thieves’, all in their 60s and 70s, bound, gagged and threw Kim into the bedroom’s bathtub as she cried and begged for her life.
Abbas confessed that the robbery was a success and that what caused them to be arrested were the DNA marks they left on the janitor they had tied up.
On the other hand, Kim has stated that after the robbery in Paris, he stopped showing off his belongings and now only wears borrowed or fake jewelry.
It’s fun to dress up and all, but things don’t do me. Now I can’t sleep if I have jewelry in my safe or money or anything in my house. I just don’t live my life like that.
