The regional Mexican singer Lupillo Rivera expressed his solidarity with the immigrants and canceled the two presentations he had this weekend in Florida in protest of the new immigration law that was implemented in that state.
Through their social networks, ‘El Toro del Corrido’ reported that the presentations that he would make this Saturday May 20 in Lake Worth and on Sunday the 21st in Homestead were suspended as a gesture of solidarity with the immigrant community that is affected by the law of Governor Ron DeSantis.
“You are informed that the dates scheduled this weekend will be cancelled, this due to the attacks that have recently been done to immigrants from Florida, actions which we reject and we hope that the situation will normalize as soon as possible”he wrote in an image that he published as a statement.
In the same message, he announced that he will soon announce new dates after the suspension this weekend. “We send a hug to all our people who were waiting for us this weekend. Stay tuned for future dates with all of you”, finished your message.
The followers of the brother of the deceased Jenni Rivera applauded his gesture and pointed out that he is the first artist to lend a hand to immigrants expressing his rejection of the law that affects undocumented immigrants.
“Very good my Lupillo, united Hispanics”; “That’s what makes you a big bastard, a musical giant”; “First artist I see showing support for what’s going on in Florida. It was to be expected because he always supports immigrants”; “All Latino artists should not perform in Florida”; “It’s all my Lupe I hope no one comes to Florida” and “Thank you for that support, Lupillo. We want to see more artists supporting the same as you”, expressed some of his fans in the publication.
Lupillo has already spoken on other occasions in favor of the immigrant community in the United States.
What happens in Florida?
A couple of days ago the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis promoted and signed a new law that establishes that people who support undocumented immigrants in any way be punished.
Among some of the measures dictated by the law, companies with more than 25 employees have to have their documents in order through the E-Verify system, to verify that people have work permits.
Likewise, if a legal citizen transports an undocumented immigrant and the authorities notice it, the person may be sanctioned with up to five years in prison and a USD 5,000 fine.
