Morgan Freeman, one of the most acclaimed actors in the film industry, was considered for one of the most relevant roles in Thor: Love and Thunder
Thor: Love and Thunder was close to having the meeting of two protagonists of one of the most acclaimed sagas of the Distinguished Competition, since Morgan Freeman was nothing to join the cast of the tape directed by Taika Waititi.
I don’t pLeft: Have fun with a deleted scene from Thor: Love and Thunder with the Guardians of the Galaxy
If you remember one of the final moments of the film, Gorr comes face to face with Eternity, an abstract being that physically represents all the times and realities that exist. This character was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for Strange Tales #138.
Thor: Love and Thunder Special Effects Supervisor Jake Morrison revealed that one of the original ideas was for Eternity to have a voice, and that voice would be none other than Morgan Freeman.
“I was asking the filmmakers, ‘Are we going to cast someone for this? Is it going to end up being, you know, like Morgan Freeman playing God again?…Are we going to do that, because if we are, I’d like to know beforehand, so I can go and get scans and things like that”.
Morrison noted that after discussion by the film’s producers and Taika Waititi, it was decided that the scene would be carried by Thor, Mighty Thor and Gorr.
“That moment really… belongs to the three actors… And if you suddenly put another big CG creature in there, who knows, throws in a bunch of dialogue… it could take away from a heavy, emotional scene, frankly”.
Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced: a search for inner peace. But Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), a galactic assassin seeking the extinction of the gods, interrupts his plans.
To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of the Valkyrie King (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s surprise, inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, like the Mighty Thor.
