Don’t Miss: Marvel Studios Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman With Incredible Art
On August 28, 2020, SMASH informed you in a timely manner of the death of Chadwick Boseman, who fought against cancer.
Three months after this event, Kevin Feige announced that to honor the memory and legacy of Chadwick Boseman, the role of T’Challa would not be recast for Black Panther, renamed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, revealed the reasons for not having another actor like T’Challa.
“It seemed like it was too early to change the cast… Stan Lee always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window. And we had talked about how, as extraordinary and fantastic as our characters and stories are, there is a human and relatable element in everything we do. The world is still processing the loss of Chad. And Ryan poured that into the story”.
Follow the path without Chadwick Boseman
Feige noted that Ryan Coogler managed to follow the story of the African nation in one of the darkest moments in its history, to focus the cameras on characters like Shuri, Okoye, and the arrival of Namor.
“The conversations were all about, yeah, ‘What do we do now?’ And how could Chadwick’s legacy continue, ‘and what he had done to help Wakanda and Black Panther become these incredible, aspirational, iconic ideas? That’s what it was all about”.
Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from the world powers that intervene in the aftermath of King T’Challa’s death. As the people of Wakanda struggle to embrace their next chapter, the heroes They must band together with the help of the Dogs of War, Nakia and Everett Ross, and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will feature the return of Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Lupita N’yongo and Angela Basset. Mexican Tenoch Huerta joins as Namor, the Submariner, and Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart.
Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set for release on November 11, 2022.
