Wearing a cap under the hood, leather pants, a multi-pocketed black jacket and large sneakers, the American star and friend of Balenciaga’s Georgian stylist Demna opened the show on the outskirts of Paris, far from the pomp of the Fashion Week in the French capital.
His ex-partner and Balenciaga muse, Kim Kardashian, was in the front row of this showdark and disturbing, in a set of buildings with a strong smell of mud.
The men were the starswhether in shorts and bombers black or with a fluorescent green set. Some of them carried accessories, such as a baby carrier or colored bags with a childish air.
Women, on the other hand, looked glamorous at this co-ed show on the sidelines of Paris Women’s Fashion Week.
The models had to cross the muddy catwalk in high heels. Their pink, white or black dresses, with glitter and transparencies, contrasted with the somber colors of the set.
“make love and not war“, Demna affirmed in the presentation brochure of the show. “Fashion does not need a story to be sold” since it is “a visual art”, Demna highlighted in that note.
“I hate rules and labels” added the designer, who nevertheless uses the Balenciaga logo in his creations.
In March, the previous Demna ready-to-wear fashion showwho, as a child, fled from Georgia in the midst of war with Russia, was a vibrant tribute to Ukraine, which at that time had just been invaded by Moscow.
Demna had explained at that time that fashion lost all its meaning, and that Fashion Week became something “absurd” in the face of the disaster of the war.
Demna became one of the ambassadors of the United24 platform this summerwhich serves to raise funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Balenciaga put a t-shirt up for sale, the profits from which will help Ukrainian refugees.
