I can’t deny that ‘Nop’ has fascinated me in multiple aspects, one of them being a chaotic narrative and something convoluted that intertwines their plots with threads that are too subtle and that make us dream of two independent feature films for each one of them. Of course, small drawbacks aside, it must be recognized that the new Jordan Peele has a unique universe in tone and content to which you want to return.
Nope sequel? Yup!
The film, as is usual in the brief but intense filmography of its head, leaves many unsolved mysteries or to the viewer’s free interpretation; one of them being related to a character named Nobody played by Michael Bushwho is credited on IMDb, but of whom there is no trace in the footage.
During an interview with The New York Times, Peele has shed some light – not too much – on the subject, leaving in the air the ability to continue expanding ‘Nope’ in future projects.
“That character’s story is yet to be told, that’s for sure. Which is another frustrating way of saying I’m glad people are paying attention. I think you’ll get more answers about some of these things in the future. We’re not done tell all these stories.
It is worth mentioning that, although it does not appear in the montage that has reached cinemas, Michael Bush’s character can be briefly seen in the trailerin which he appears walking calmly in the opposite direction of a group of people fleeing in terror.
Will we get to see a sequel to ‘Nope’? Will the potential franchise make the leap to television? Will the mystery be solved with a director’s cut? Only time will tell, but it seems that the box office is in favor of Peele, who has already reaped 150 million dollars worldwide from an estimated budget of around 70 million.
