american actor Johnny Depp faces a new controversy, and it is that Bruce Jackson recently accused him of plagiarism for one of the songs on his new studio album, “18”which apparently collects lyrics from a 1974 book called “Get Your Ass in the Water and Swim Like Me.”
According to statements issued by Jackson to Rolling Stone magazine, the song “Sad Motherfuckin Parade”, authored by Depp and guitarist Jeff Beck, verbatim collects two lines found in his book.
“I have never come across anything like this. I’ve been posting stuff for 50 years, and this is the first time someone has copied something and put their own name on it,” she added.
For its part, Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck admitted that “there may be elements of the song that reflect the words of ‘Hobo Ben'”, but assured that their theme is “an original work of authorship”. and creativity”.
In addition to these statements, the actor who gave life to “Jack Sparrow” and his musical partner decided not to give rise to speculation and file a lawsuit against Bruce Jacksonwho accused them of said plagiarism.
Within the complaint the musicians argue that the poem does not have an author as suchsince the origin of the lyrics is a story that Slim Wilson, a fellow prisoner, told Jackson when he was in the Missouri State jail.
