Let’s play a game. For years you’ve been watching the ‘Saw’ saga, movie after movie, even after it argumentatively didn’t make any sense. Now that the tenth part has been announced, try to put everything that has happened so far in order without messing up the different reboots, apprentices, victims and executioners. You have just over a year before the premiere of the next installment. Time flies.
Ten films (and those that remain)
‘Saw’ has seen it all: From the critical acclaim of its first installment to the X-rated ‘Saw VI’ to Chris Rock’s absolutely infamous ‘Spiral’ reboot. Now, the director of the sixth and seventh installments, Kevin Greutert, returns to the ring after the strange drift of the saga in recent years. They’re two of the best sequels, so hopefully we’ll get back to enjoying the bloody, absurd murders of Jigsaw and his apprentices.
The truth is that Darren Lynn Bousman, director of ‘Spiral’, I expected this to become a spin-off saga of ‘Saw’, but in April of last year the existence of this tenth installment was confirmed (instead of qualifying it as the ninth). The movie finally has a release date: will be on October 27, 2023just in time for Halloween.
will have to compete with a sequel to ‘The Exorcist’ directed by David Gordon Green (‘Halloween’) and ‘Madame Web’, which will also come out in October, and with ‘Blade’which will do the same the following week. A year that is already beginning to be full of interesting premieres and sequels that, sadly, have decided to break the rule of tenths and not go to space, with or without a game to play.
