Jeff Bridges considers himself lucky since the lymphoma that was diagnosed two years ago entered remission in September 2021. However, in his last interview, the actor was very honest when describing an experience that left him traumatized, especially since in January of last year contracted Covid at the same time that he underwent his corresponding chemotherapy sessions.
This was explained in conversation with AND! News: the treatment left him practically without defenses to be able to combat the arrival of the coronavirusso he was, in his own words, “at death’s door” during those worrying first weeks of 2021. “The chemo wipes out your immune system, and when I got Covid, I had nothing to fight with. I was at death’s door a couple of times.”Jeff revealed with his usual candor.
The movie star was hospitalized for four months, a long convalescence that gradually undermined his mood. Bridges feared that he would never be able to return to work or miss other important events in his life such as the wedding of his daughter Haley, who of course he would want to take by the arm on his way down the aisle.
“I remember the doctors telling me, ‘Jeff, you have to fight.’ But I didn’t really know what they were talking about. And I thought I was already in ‘defeat mode’. But I was lucky to have a great medical team, wonderful coaches and of course the support of my family. Everybody helped me to come back”, she revealed with emotion.
