Jamie Lee Curtis has always supported her daughter Ruby and her path as a transgender person, which is why she has given an important message during Trans Visibility Day, “Love is love. A mother’s love knows no judgement,” she said.
The 64-year-old actress sent the message along with the publication of a photo with her youngest daughter, 27.
In July 2021, the Oscar winner revealed to the world that she and her husband, director Christopher Guest who “They watched in amazement and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby.”
The actress said that this allowed her to open her eyes to see the truth about the “old idea” that gender is fixed and that along with Ruby’s transition she realized that life is a constant “metamorphosis”.
Ruby spoke in an interview about the moment she told her parents the truth, “It was terrifying, just telling them something about me that they didn’t know.” explained to the magazine People in October 2021. “It was intimidating, but I wasn’t worried. I had been so accepted all my life.”
Curtis has pointed out that the road has not been easy to travel, but that love and support and love have never been lacking, it was time to “learn new terminology and words.”
Ruby used to be called Ruby and that at the age of 16 she knew that “she was different”, and that she understands when her parents make mistakes with the pronouns when speaking to her.
“Then seven years later, still being Tom at the time, I told the person who is now my fiancée that I am probably trans,” Ruby said. “And they said, ‘I love you for who you are.'”
