AI has always been a key component of the franchise. It’s unclear if Cameron is waiting to see how the reality of artificial intelligence unfolds or if he wants to make sure he doesn’t broach any concepts that could be easily disproven or discredited.
In 1984, Terminator stormed the movie theaters to offer us a dark story starring arnold schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton in which machines take control and subjugate humanity. This fear is resurfacing thanks to technologies like ChatGPT, so it’s easy to think Cameron might be inspired to pick up his pen and imagine a new post-apocalyptic story.

To do it or not to do it? Here is the dilemma of Terminator
Cameron himself must be very measured in his plans, since it must be remembered that the last installment of the saga, Terminator: Dark Fatewas not well received, despite having the presence of Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Cameron hasn’t directed a movie Terminator from Terminator 2: Judgment Dayalthough he had an important creative participation in Dark Fate, which Tim Miller directed. The movie lost $120 million and garnered bad reviews.
Between the writers’ strike and Cameron’s commitment to avatar 3we may not have significant news about the project in the near future, but we know that anything can happen.
Maybe there’s no more Arnold in Terminator
Although Cameron remains involved with the franchise, Schwarzenegger recently confirmed that his involvement with the series has come to an end.
“The franchise is not over. I have finished. I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different issue when it comes to Terminator,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Someone has to come up with a great idea. Terminator she was largely responsible for my success, so I’ve always viewed her very fondly. The first three movies were great. In the fourth [Salvation] I was not there because I was governor. then the five [Genisys] and the six [Dark Fate] They didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew it beforehand because they were not well written.
