25 years ago it was released “Titanic”, one of the most famous movies in cinema history. But its main actor, Leonardo Dicaprio, he was on the verge of not working on the project due to his behavior during the auditions.
In interview for G.Q. the canadian director James Cameron revealed that DiCaprio’s attitude in the tests -in which he had to engage in a dialogue with the actress Kate Winslet– It turned out a little superb: “Leo walked on set and I said, ‘Okay, let’s see what your chemistry with Kate is like.’ And he said: ‘You mean I should read?’ And I said, ‘Yes’. And he said, ‘Oh, I don’t read.
James immediately held out his hand to Leonardo saying: “Well, thanks for coming”, but he then replied angrily: “’Wait, wait, wait. You mean if I don’t read, I don’t get the part?’ And I said: ‘Yes. This is a movie that is going to take two years of my life… so I’m not going to ruin it by making the wrong decision in the casting, so you’ll either read or you won’t get the part’. Every ounce of his being was so negative, until I said: ‘Action!’ and he immediately became the character Jack.”
Ironically, in 1998 Leonardo was not nominated for the award oscar for Best Actor, but “Titanic” He competed in 14 categories, winning 11 statuettes. James is currently promoting his new film “Avatar: The way of water”which will be released in the United States on December 16.
