Mystery solved? Since Jack Black was finally uncovered as the new interpreter of Superman for the DC Universe, to the surprise of locals and strangers, including James Gunn himself
It is a bird? It is a plane? No! It’s… Jack Black?! Well, to everyone’s surprise, Jack Black announced on social networks that he will be the new Superman, and James Gunn himself confirmed it… Obviously as a joke.

On social networks Jack Black shared a video where he responds to an alleged call by James Gunn to accept the role of the Man of Steel in the new film Superman: Legacy, which is written by James Gunn.
And to everyone’s surprise, James Gunn himself responded to Black’s post, arguing that it was an announcement that would arrive at San Diego Comic-Con.
“I thought we agreed to save this news for ComicCon.”
James Gunn revealed last January that Superman: Legacy will be the big start to the DC Universe that both he and Peter Safran have planned and the release date of this film will be July 11, 2025.
“Superman Legacy is not an origin story, it focuses on Superman’s balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing. He is the epitome of truth, justice and the American way, he is kindness in a world that thinks kindness is old fashioned.”.
