Antena 3 has done well with the move with ‘The Wife’. The chain brought forward the premiere of the Italian series to confront Telecinco and not only has it obtained better results than ‘Nightmare in El Paraíso’ but it was also crowned audience leader Wednesday night.
landslide victory
Antena 3 is experiencing a good moment, adding its leadership in this holiday period to the upward trend in terms of viewers that it has been experiencing for some time now. Perhaps that has encouraged the chain to move its chips against the reality star of Telecinco for this season.
Faced with the mediocre results of the premiere of ‘Nightmare in El Paraíso’ (which is very likely to have been influenced by its constant schedule changes), Antena 3 decided advance to Wednesday the first episode of ‘The Wife’ and broadcast the following this Thursday, coinciding respectively with the access prime time and the main gala of the Lara Álvarez program.
The bet went off like a charm, since ‘The Wife’ was the leader of the night, with a 17.1% share (1,425,000 viewers) compared to 10.6% of ‘Nightmare in Paradise’, which scratched even less than the day of its premiere.
Given the good results of Antena 3 with the Turkish series, the network may have found another new gold mine in the italian series. ‘The Wife’ is a miniseries about a young woman in the 1960s who marries for convenience and the situation begins to get complicated due to conflicts from the past.
The premiere was an absolute success (it was also well above TVE and ‘Lazos de sangre’), which Antena 3 hopes to repeat today with the second episode of ‘Lawife’. We’ll see if he doubles against the reality show’s main gala and we’ll still have to wait until next week to see the third and last episode of the Italian fiction.
