We have all dreamed of what we would say to our favorite stars if we were in front of them. At the moment we would surely be left in shock, unable to collect our thoughts and tell them all that their work has meant to us… except if you are Ana Obregón, who had no better idea than to cook a “disgusting” paella for Steven Spielberg himself.
seeing is believing
Everything goes back to 1984, during the filming of ‘Bolero’. Obregón was acting alongside Bo Derek in the film and it was then that he met the one and only Steven Spielberg. When the director of movies like ‘Jaws’ or ‘ET The Extra-Terrestrial’ He mentioned that he loved Spain, flamenco and paellashe exclaimed: “But it is my specialty!”.
As Obregón has recounted on more than one occasion, he had no idea of preparing a paella but that did not stop him from throwing himself into the kitchen at his Malibu home: “Paella was the most disgusting, The rice didn’t even turn out yellow but Spielberg was very polite“.
With her mother on the phone giving her directions about what he had to do, Obregón had to cook in the dark in the garden, lit only by a lantern because the power had gone out.

“The paella was disgusting, disgusting, but he ate it” summed up Obregón, who has ever shared images of his experience in Hollywood and the unrepeatable moment on his networks. Of course, he can boast of having made the paella that made Spielberg cry (not from happiness, of course).
