The worldwide phenomenon that ‘Stranger Things’ has become has left the public wanting science fiction with a clear touch of the 80s. However, the Netflix series was not the first to propose something, since ‘Super 8’ was released in 2011, a film directed by JJ Abrams that now you can see free streaming for a limited time.
You only have to access RTVE Play to be able to enjoy ‘Super 8’ completely free. Of course, do not wait too long, since it will only be available there until next Tuesday, January 10. Once that time has passed, the only alternative you will have is fuboTv, but there you will have to pay a monthly subscription of 3.99 euros to be able to see it.
Another striking aspect of ‘Super 8’ is that it deals with the only film in Abrams’ entire filmography that does not belong to an already established franchise. It is true that it drinks a lot from Amblin’s productions from the 80s and that is why more than one has accused it of being a prefabricated work, but that does not mean that it is not a highly estimable work.
As in other productions of a similar nature, the true key to ‘Super 8’ is not so much in the story it tells or in the visual display as in the extent to which the protagonists can connect with the public, probably being elle fanning the one that best stop comes out here. Of course, the rest also comply with ease so that one comes to forget that they are still stereotypes seen on countless occasions and that that emotional touch is vital so that the enjoyment with what it proposes is greater.
Obviously it also helps to have a careful technical finish on the part of Abrams and that everything is well measured enough to make it difficult to dislike her. However, it is the soundtrack of michael giacchino where we find a more genuine and exciting touch to further elevate the final result.
For my part, I recognize that ‘Super 8’ is a film that I like but without being enthusiastic about, although It never hurts to take a look at it, especially if it is completely free.
