Take a quick weekend trip where I can lose myself and walk away for a couple of days technology and being constantly connected is one of the things I like the most in the world. And luckily, Spain offers us many opportunities to do this within a stone’s throw, almost literally.
One of the most incredible places for a getaway – romantic or not -, now that it’s cold and we fancy more winter plans, is this incredible Medieval Villa located on the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, just an hour and a half from Madrid and very close to Navacerrada, in case we feel like going through the ski slopes.
Pedraza, the best preserved medieval town in Spain

This is Pedraza, a beautiful medieval town that is literally out of a movie. And it is that it has been the scene of different films and series, such as ‘Land of Wolves’, ‘Red Eagle’, ‘Isabel’ or ‘Snow White’ and ‘The Love of Captain Brando’. And we are not surprised at all, because its cobbled streets, its wall – with a single door that gives access to the Villa – or the incredible Castle of Pedraza, make you feel that you have been transported to another time.
The magic is not achieved alone, and it is that Pedraza was already declared a Historic Site in 1951 and great efforts and work are dedicated to keep this town in perfect state of conservationso that we can still enjoy the original appearance of its streets, as well as its buildings.
The food is another of the great attractions.

Although it is a small town, which can be traveled quickly, we recommend spending the weekend there. One of the reasons is that, at night, this town is even more impressive – it will seem possible to run into Captain Alatriste at any corner.
But, in addition, there is another reason of vital importance, and that is why only have one meal here when you can have three? Segovian gastronomy shines with infinite splendor in Pedraza. We will be able to enjoy the traditional suckling pig, but also other typical dishes such as beans, lamb or Castilian soup. A pleasure for all the senses.
