The Sailor Senshi return this year for the last time (although we hope not completely) with ‘Sailor Moon Space‘, two movies to close the anime. The series promises to go off with a bang by adapting one of the biggest arcs in the manga, and also one of the most dramatic.
the final firecracker
first came ‘Sailor Moon Crystal’ with its three seasons to adapt the manga of Naoko Takeuchi with a more faithful style, and also sticking more to the original story. Then came the ‘Sailor Moon Eternal’ movies, and after a couple of years of waiting in June of this year we will have the anime ending.
For now, nothing certain about its international release has been confirmed, but the two ‘Sailor Moon Cosmos’ movies open in Japan on June 9 and 30. It is very possible that Netflix will take over the rights for international distribution, but hopefully some distributor will dare to take them to the big screen because with what the trailers are showing, the movies look pretty good.
In these two films we will be introduced to Sailor Starlight and the trailers promise that the anime is going to become more dramatic than ever and with all the brilliance and color that we can expect from ‘Sailor Moon’ for a high end.
tomoya takahashi is directing both films for Toei Animation, with Kazuyuki Fudeyashi writing the script and Yashuharu Takanashi directing. Kazuko Tadano, character designer for the ‘sailor Moon‘ original, has also taken care of the characters in the new films.
