Tony Shalhoub is going to put his neat suit back on, to avoid all germs and deal with his OCD while solving crimes. The American platform Peacock has announced the return of ‘Monk’ through a film that will bring together the original cast of the police series.
Entitled ‘Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie‘, the film will follow the brilliant Californian detective returning to solve one last case, a very personal one, involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.
Along with Shalhoub (who this coming May says goodbye to his role in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’), the cast will feature Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, Jason Gray-Stanford, Melora Hardin and Hector Elizondo. Andy Breckman, creator of the series, will be in charge of writing the film.
The most watched series of its moment
Composed of eight seasons (adding a total of 125 episodes), the series broke everything audience record with its final chapter, broadcast in 2009, as the most watched cable television drama in history. This, of course, has already started the occasional conversation about a possible film sequel.
On the other hand, ‘Monk’ won a total of eight Emmy Awards, including three for Best Lead Actor for Tony Shalhoub, who was nominated for eight consecutive years. In Spain it can be seen on Prime Video.
