dreamworks It had taken off very well from Disney but now it has proposed to follow in its footsteps with live action remakes. Although many of us thought that ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ did not need a remake or getting out of animation, we can expect the reboot by 2025… and while the calendar continues to advance, it seems that we already have new faces for Hiccup and Astrid.
From terror to fantasy on dragon backs
In the animated version, Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera lent their voices to Hiccup and Astrid, and it’s going to be hard to put them out of our heads. To take over, the new ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ has found its new protagonists: Mason Thames and Nico Parker.
Mason Thames He has been seen in the new ‘Walker’ as the younger version of the protagonist, although it surely sounds more like ‘Black Phone’, where we could see him receiving phone calls from a murderer. On the other hand we have Nico Parkerwhom we have most recently seen as Sarah in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ series and in the Disney remake of ‘Dumbo’.
Let’s see how the remake experiment turns out, because as my colleagues have already pointed out, there is little need for a trilogy as spectacular as ‘How to Train Your Dragon‘, and especially considering that the last film was released in 2019 and the excuse that it needs to be updated for modern audiences is not worth much.
At least we have Dean DeBlois back in charge of the project, and both Thames and Parker have the skills to play Hiccup and Astrid… Now to cross our fingers with the rest of the cast.
