But this reality does not apply to all types of cheese and some could make you sick if you were to consume them in this state.

But for those older and harder types, such as Swiss or Parmesan, it is best to cut the place where the fungus grows. The depth of the cut will depend on the dairy. If it is a very hard one, about 2 cm will be enough, but if its consistency is more humid, you may have to remove a larger portion, since the roots of the fungus will reach more space.
