Known for his roles in ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘The Mandalorian’, Giancarlo Esposito has carved out a niche for himself in the audiovisual imagination. The actor, of Danish origin, has been put in the crosshairs of Marvel and states that he would love to play the next Professor X.
‘FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER’ Proves A GROWER MCU Is Possible
Professor Husband?
Giancarlo Esposito told the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con that he is very interested in being part of the UCM and that has already met with Marvel to talk about possible roles (among which Mr. Freeze, the DC villain, also slipped in):
I haven’t worked with Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and we’ve talked (…) Magneto was talked about. Doctor Doom and Professor X were discussed. (As for what I would like to interpret) I would say something different, I would bet on Professor X.
Esposito shared the news with enthusiasm although Marvel has yet to confirm what role will the actor finally play nor when will a project on ‘X-Men’ be launched in the MCU. The only thing announced to date is the animated series ‘X-Men ’97’, the reboot that Disney + is planning for 2023 and in whose voice cast the actor does not appear.
yes we could see some brushstrokes of the mutants in recent Marvel releases, like Patrick Stewart’s cameo as Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ or certain revelations in the series finale ‘Ms. Marvel’.
Apart from those mentioned above, Esposito is a regular face in the seriéphile field with his numerous appearances in series such as ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘The Boys’, ‘Harley Quinn’, ‘Ducktales’ or ‘The Godfather of Harlem’. Their incorporation to the UCM could be the push that is missing to immerse himself fully in the cinema, where perhaps he has not been so lucky, although we have also seen him in projects such as ‘Okja’ or the saga ‘The Maze Runner’.
Esposito joins the Marvel waiting list (where we also have Taron Egerton, as a possible Wolverine), which for now has already announced its phase 5 and phase 6 and with all those projects it already has the agenda covered for a while.
