Last night, Blanca Paloma visited ‘El Hormiguero’ after her victory at ‘Benidorm Fest 2023’. The next representative of Spain in Eurovision spoke of the pressure of taking over from Chanel and the curious name that her fans have given themselves.
“It motivates me a lot”
A few months before the long-awaited gala in Liverpool, Pablo Motos received Blanca Paloma on the set of ‘El Hormiguero’. The presenter asked the Madrid native if he was nervous about the pressure that is on her right now, taking into account Chanel’s success last year. She she said she was very motivated:
It motivates me a lot. I think that she has her eye on Spain, after what Chanel did. I am very satisfied with the show and the staging that we bring. I think she is having a very good reception. It is the first song in the history of Eurovision that goes to the bulería beat.
The singer recalled the case of Remedios Amaya, considering that she was ahead of her time: “Europe was not ready then but I got on Remedios’s boat and defended it in style”.
He also explained why their followers call themselves pigeons and it is not for other than that’s what the young pigeons are called: “I have not put it, the fans have put it on social networks”.
Blanca Paloma will sing ‘Eaea’ in the grand final of Eurovision on May 13. The song is a tribute to her grandmother Carmen de ella and its title means “cradle and give war”.
