Gone are the days when Pedro Pascal did not even have money to eat: the Chilean actor is today one of the most recognizable stars in Hollywood, although more than one fan caused him a sore eyes when he played his remembered role in ‘Game of Thrones’.
Spoiler warning for ‘Game of Thrones’
Beware of the evil eye
From ‘The Last of Us’ to rubbing shoulders with Almodóvar in ‘Strange way of life’, going through the ‘Star Wars’ universe with ‘The Mandalorian’. The success of Pedro Pascal in the audiovisual medium would not be possible if he had not appeared at the time in ‘Game of Thrones’.
The actor recently told The Hollywood Reporter what a big surprise it was for him how such a minor role as Oberyn Martell catapulted him to fame the way it did, and even more considering that it only lasted one season.
At the time, Pascal could not have been more excited that his character was so well received, and he even lent himself to imitate the scene of his death (when the Mountain plunged its fingers into his eyes) in the selfies that the fans asked for.
Of course, in the end things got a little out of hand and he had to stop doing it because ended up getting an eye infection doing the iconic pose:
I remember at the time, because of how my character died in ‘Game of Thrones’, people loved taking selfies putting their thumbs in my eyes. At first, because I was very formal and I was happy that my character was so popular, I let them do it. Then I ended up getting an eye infection.
