Although we are devoured by the contents of the platforms, linear television consumption is still king of the contents. And there we have DTT, Digital Terrestrial Television, the modality by which we see a wide range of open channels in Spain.
And sometimes we may want to watch something live but we don’t have the TV at hand. Fortunately, the Internet exists and today we can watch almost any channel on our computer or device. So let’s review how we can see all DTT channels online, free and legal.
On the website and official applications of the channels
The first alternative is to go the official route. Virtually all DTT channels can be seen through their website and, in the case of large groups, with their own free application: Spanish Radio Television has RTVE Play, Mediaset (Telecinco, Cuatro, etc.) has Mitele and Atresmedia (Antena 3, laSexta) with Atresplayer.
The last two also have a payment method with extra access and without ads.
Also, although it is not free, there is the possibility of watching DTT through the application/web of your pay television provider. For example, via Movistar Plus+ or “cord cutters” like FuboTV.
Other legal alternatives to watch DTT online
But of course, sometimes we go for the comfortable and We are looking for a place to have it all… If this is your case, there are a couple of interesting alternatives to have all the DTT and more channels at the click of a button.
TDTChannels
The simplest and most popular option is TDTChannels, which collaboratively compiles (they have their own Github) all the DTT and other channels that, without being part of the offer, are accessible for free.
Nowadays offer more than six hundred channelsincluding regional ones and the live broadcast of various news media from CNN to El País.
Tivify
Another alternative is Tivify, an application that, although it is paid, offers a free plan prior registration access to most DTT channels, with an offer of about 130 channels. This will also allow you to see access to the last 7 days of public chains.
Yes, for some reason, this does not include Mediaset channelsfor which if you want to see them in this application you must provide a Plus subscription of 3.99 euros per month.
Other websites
If you don’t like to complicate your life, there are many very simple options to watch DTT and other television for free on the Internet. For example Diretele, TVOnline or Teledirecto. Many are websites that redirect you to the live broadcast of each channel on its own website.
Through your own multimedia software with IPTV
Another option, this one more for those who like to tinker with their appsis to already use the multimedia programs that we enjoy such as VLC or Potplayer.
For this the only thing we will need is to copy the URL of a list in M3U or M3U8 format (for example, TDTChannels offers their own) and paste it into the corresponding menu. For example, in VLC it would be in the tab of Middle -> Select Network Location. And here we would paste the url that we have.
There are various applications that use the IPTV protocol so that we can watch the channel we want live: from MyIPTV Player to Wiseplay and Kodi (which needs a complement as we see in the tutorial from our Xataka Android colleagues).
