We are a few days away from the switching on of the Christmas lights that officially open Christmas in the Spanish capital. Along with the lights, Madrid welcomes the Christmas bus, the beautiful botanist’s exhibition and the market in the Plaza Mayor.
But there is a plan in the renovated Plaza de España that is repeated this year after the success of the past, and that is quite similar to what we can see in the Rockefeller Plaza in New York. We are not talking about the gigantic rockefeller center tree nor of the lights with which Vigo competes. We talk about the rink which will be available in both places.
The skating rink of Plaza de España, the Christmas plan of Madrid
The ice skating It is a typical winter activity that we love and that is one of those plans that on festive dates we feel like much more. The so-called “Christmas” of Plaza de España will have a 450 m2 natural ice rink that will open on November 25 and will be available until January 8, 2023.
In addition to the rink, it will have a gastronomic offer (there are few things better than having a hot chocolate with churros after skating), and a Crafts Fair where we can find some of the gifts this Christmas.
During the weekends a cultural program has been organized with theatrical and circus-themed shows for the whole family to enjoy.
With this plan, which is added to that of the christmas amusement park that we will be able to enjoy in the Casa de Campo in Madrid (and that will even have the northern lights), we are already counting down the hours until Christmas officially comes into our lives.
