The legal case of the actor Héctor Parra continues on the march and, recently, his former lawyer, José Luis Guerrero, offered a public apology to Alexa Parra, victim of alleged sexual abuse by her father.
This February 28, Guerrero, who was the actor’s defense attorney for eight months and who resigned from the case, read a letter in which he expressed his apologies to Alexa Parra for the comments he made throughout the process. In addition, he extended his words to the actress Ginny Hoffman, mother of the victim, who was also affected.
Alexa, I am writing to you through this medium to offer you an empathetic and sincere apology for all the damage that I may have caused to you and your mother, Mrs. Ginny Hoffman, derived from multiple interviews that I offered to various media regarding to the process you are facing for sexual abuse for which Héctor ‘N’ is being accused.
The lawyer made his statements during a press conference that he offered and that was broadcast by Berenice Ortiz on YouTube. In this space, Guerrero mentioned that her words are due to the reflection she made about what victims of violence experience and who denounce their aggressors, since this young woman not only has to deal with the alleged abuse, but also faces to public scrutiny.
In addition to this, Guerrero stated that he wants the girl to obtain justice and that people empathize with the pain that she would be going through as an alleged victim of abuse by her father.
Alexa, genuinely, I want you to obtain justice before the law enforcement and administration bodies of our country and that society, which should never have tried you, understands that the victims deserve empathy and protection. I hope that both the media and society soon realize the pain that an event of this nature generates.
It should be noted that the litigant did not accept questions from the press and thus concluded his statement. However, this event has drawn the attention of the media, since a year ago, Guerrero announced that he would no longer represent Héctor after he did not pay his fees. Later, she said that this decision was made without having any problem with the actor or with her daughter Daniela Parra, which she confirmed.
Due to this, the media question whether the reason for his apology was, in effect, reflection or he found some anomaly in the case, as Alexa’s former lawyer, Alonso Beceiro, stated at the time.
