The leak of the last episode of the first season of ‘The house of the dragon’ several days before its premiere has not sat well with HBO. It is true that it had already happened with the first one, but in the company they have been enraged by what happened And they have already pointed out a possible culprit.
HBO’s reaction
An HBO spokesperson has released a statement through The Hollywood Reporter making it clear that they are aware of what happened and pointing out that the leak appears to come from a distribution partner located in the EMEA region, i.e. from Europe, the Middle East or Africa. Specifically, this is what he said:
It appears to be from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing these copies from the Internet. We’re disappointed that this illegal action has interrupted the experience of loyal fans of the series, who will be able to see a flawless version of the episode when it premieres on Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will be broadcast exclusively in 4K.
This last detail seems especially relevant, since the last episode has not been leaked in 4K, so this time it seems that the origin of the leak is not an internal issue. That does not mean that this topic has little less than become a tradition, since it has also happened on occasion with ‘Game of Thrones’.
I remind you that the episode premieres tonight and that in Spain it should be available at 3 in the morning from Sunday 23 to Monday 24 October.
