“He’s one of the best. I have a lot of very, very good strikers and Erling is one of them,” Guardiola told reporters on the eve of the Champions League match between City and FC Copenhagen.
“He understands quickly and is a good person (…) I talk about him a lot, but sometimes I shouldn’t because the numbers do it for me,” he added.
Haaland scored twice last week in City’s comfortable 5-0 win over Copenhagen.which is the last in Group G with a point, but Guardiola did not want to refer to an eventual break for the Norwegian international.
City can seal their place in the round of 16 with a victory at Parken Stadium on Tuesday, having collected a maximum of nine points from their opening three matches.
“It is true that there is a risk of fatigue (…) tomorrow I will decide the selection. I will speak with the players, the doctors and the physios and I will decide,” Guardiola said.
“We are not going to underestimate them (Copenhagen). If it does not go well, it will not be because we do not play well, but because Copenhagen plays well (…) we want to get into the round of 16 and that is what we are going to try (. ..) I am more than satisfied so far,” he added.
Defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker, as well as midfielder Kalvin Phillips, were not part of City’s 21-man squad that traveled to the Danish capital as they remain sidelined through injury.
