The trial in Park City, also in Utah, began Tuesday. In their opening arguments, Sanderson’s defense said that the incident had caused him damages of about $3.3 million.
Paltrow’s lawyers, who countersued for a dollar, dismissed the allegations.
Both sides claim they were struck from behind while skiing down the slope of the resort.
“I was hit from behind very hard, and it was right up to my shoulder blades,” Sanderson said Monday.
“It was a very serious crash, never in my life had I been hit so hard and I was flying (…) The last thing I remember is that everything went black.”
Sanderson, 76, said the accident left him with four broken ribs and significant psychological damage.which forced him into “voluntary confinement” at home, and affected his relationship with his daughters, partner and friends.
My interaction with my family has been more difficult
Questioned by Paltrow’s lawyer, he refuted comments he had made earlier with family members that an accident with a Hollywood star had made him famous.
“It’s not me (…) It’s the other personality that lives in my body now,” said the plaintiff who blames the actress.
“My interaction with my family has been more difficult.”
Paltrow’s defense established that Sanderson suffered health problems prior to the accident such as a heart attack, loss of vision and palpitations.
Stephen Owens, lawyer for the Oscar-winning actress of “Passionate Shakespeare”, argued that the disorders are due to natural aging and not accident.
“Mr. Sanderson categorically hit me on that hillsidePaltrow, 50, said Friday.
“Two skis entered between my skis, forcing me to open my legs, and then there was a body pressing on me, and there was a very strange growl (…) I felt violated,” added the actress who was skiing with her children and her partner Brad Falchuk .
