Locals claim that the man found a fortune, but so far, no one knows the exact figure.
According to popular belief, pirates always buried their treasure so that no one could take it from them. However, not only pirates had these ideas, as many people, in previous centuries, distrusted emerging banks, so they decided to keep their money in a place they considered safer. For example, under the mattress or in your garden.
And unfortunately for them but lucky for others; they forgot about their treasure and left it waiting to be found by someone else. This seems to be what happened in a neighborhood of Ciudad Victoria, Mexico. An elderly man, hitherto unidentified; he found a sack full of gold and silver coins, after digging in a building.

According to the newspaper Millennium The finding was made known through social networks by the Tamaulipas Association of Antiques and Collectors (ATAC). According to the ATAC, they were informed of the discovery of a treasure in the Modelo neighborhood, so they went to the place to investigate. There they spoke with a witness who said he was the closest to the story; however, they could not find the man in question.
According to said witness; His father, who is a bricklayer, saw everything with his own eyes and attests to the legality of the matter. One night, an old man passed by the building and saw that at the base of a foundation there was some kind of fire. He then asked this mason for permission to dig next to the foundation and he agreed.
The next morning, the bricklayer only found a hole half a meter deep and half a meter wide. The old man returned hours later and showed him 4 silver coins, assuring that there were many more of those buried but that he could not continue his search because a fetid aroma reached him that made him dizzy. He then asked permission to continue digging that night and again, the bricklayer said yes.

The bricklayer spent the night without knowing anything about that man, but very early in the morning, he received a surprise. The old man had found a “treasure.” It was a small sack but full of gold and silver coins.
It was a big surprise for the mason and the rest of the community; surprise that grew when the man decided to sell his coins one by one. A few hours after announcing the find, that man began to offer the silver coins among his neighbors. The price was ridiculously low so everyone bought some from him. Though of course, the man is keeping the gold coins just for himself.
Unfortunately, ATAC was unable to find the man to learn his version of events and check if the story is true. So at the moment there is only the witness’s account and the photograph of the coin that he supposedly bought from the old man.
