The AAmerican actor Leslie Jordan has died this Monday in a tragic accident. According to Los Angeles police, it is suspected that he had some kind of medical emergency when he was driving, causing him to crash into a Hollywood building.
Jordan, 67, was a veteran actor at that many of us knew better for her role as Beverly in ‘Will and Grace’, a role with which —apart from carving out a position in queer iconography— he won an Emmy for best guest actor. Recently we can see him in ‘Call Me Kat’the comedy starring Mayim Bialik, available on HBO Max Spain.
“The man who had a history with all of Hollywood”
Born in 1955, Leslie Jordan had a convulsive stage when he moved to Los Angeles in the early 80s, with drug and alcohol abuse, which marked much of his adult life, being arrested several times. In fact, as he told in an interview, He came to share a cell with Robert Downey Jr. (with whom he would coincide in ‘Ally McBeal’).
Despite having made his first steps in the cinema (most recently in ‘The United States against Billie Holiday’), his career has always been linked to television. Starting with his participation in ‘The Fall Guy’ to continue in dozens of series, including ‘Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’, ‘Star Trek: Voyager’, ‘Boston Legal’, ‘American Horror Story’, etc.
In recent years we could see him in the main cast of ‘The Cool Kids’ and he was currently shooting season 3 of ‘Call Me Kat’, series that will take a short break in his honor. This has been announced in a joint statement from the cast headed by Mayim Bialik:
“There are no words to express the loss we are experiencing as the cast and family of Call Me Kat. Leslie Jordan was awesome. A southern gentleman, tender, wise, mischievous and hilarious. We got to know and love him at the height of his happiness and joy and it is impossible to imagine a world without our Leslie: the man who would spit on his contact lenses before putting them in his eyes, the man who had a story about every man in Hollywood and some of women too, the man who lived to make people laugh. We will take a time to mourn and celebrate the many gifts that Leslie has given to us and to the whole world and we appreciate the privacy at this time.”
Rest in peace.
