Unfortunately, there are many stories about assaults, but none as peculiar as the one that a girl lived on public transport in Mexico City, since, apparently, she was saved from being assaulted due to a shortbread.
It sounds so strange, because we do not imagine how a simple shortbread can help us in a situation like this, especially since it is unlikely that we can use it as a defense weapon at any given moment.
This is the content creator Sofía Rosales, who uploaded a video to her TikTok account in which she narrates the strange experience she had when she was going to be robbed. The incident occurred in his high school days. It was a day like any other, before getting on public transport, Sofía bought herself some shortbread.
The girl remembered that four or three men got on the bus, but she didn’t care, because at that moment she only thought of eating her shortbread because she was very hungry.
While she ate them, one of the men kept looking at her, so she decided to share her shortbreads and ask him if he wanted to. At first the guy refused, but then he agreed to take one.
Immediately, at one point during the trip, Sofia hears that the men begin to shout to ask for people’s belongings. After her initial bewilderment, she realizes that the man with whom she shared the bun was one of the assailants.

Meanwhile, the girl couldn’t stop thinking how the man could act like that after she was so good to him, while also deciding what things to give away so they would leave her alone. When she offered her her iPod and 50 Mexican pesos (approximately 2.5 dollars) in cash, the subject refused to receive them, and told her something that surprised her.

Maybe it wasn’t the muffin itself, but unknowingly this girl was able to use it as a peace offering, in a world increasingly damaged by violence and indifference.
