Since his appointment as the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk has continued to make headlines worldwide for the controversial actions he has undertaken within the platformwhich range from the massive dismissal of collaborators, to “subscription” plans for verified accounts.
However, it was his latest announcement to remove content moderation from the platform and reinforce “free speech” (which for many means allowing the spread of more misinformation and hate speech) that caused several celebrities to leave the platform founded in 2006. Here we share a list of all of them!
Amber Heard
The ex-partner of the businessman, Amber Heard, was one of the first celebrities to get off the ship and although he tried to do it discreetly and without sending any message, it went unnoticed by no one that his user does not appear on the social network either.
Gigi Hadid
On the other hand, the supermodel Gigi Hadid was very vocal about her departure from the platform, as she issued a forceful message with which she said goodbye to her followers.
“For a long time, but especially with its new management, it’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate and bigotry, and not a place I want to be a part of.“, explained the famous. “I can’t say it’s a safe place for anyone or a social platform that does more good than harm,” she said before deactivating her account.
Ken Olin
Ken Olin, renowned actor, producer and director, also did not sit idly by and expressed his disagreement with the changes that the platform would be presenting. As a result, he bid his fans farewell with the following words:
“Leave. No trials. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s protect our democracy. Let’s try to be nicer. Let’s try to save the planet. Let’s try to be more generous. Let us seek to find peace in the world“, he expressed.
Shonda Rhimes
Shonda Rhimes, creator of such hits as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bridgerton”, joined this select group of artists who decided to leave Twitter behind. In his case, the final thrust occurred at the end of October. “I’m not staying for whatever Elon has planned. Goodbye,” he wrote as the last tweet. Of course, his account is still active.
Whoopi Goldberg
The charismatic presenter of the program “The View”, Whoopi Goldberg, did not miss the opportunity to reproach Elon Musk for the recent actions he has undertaken in the few days he has been the owner of the platform.
Incidentally, the famous took the opportunity to give an ultimatum. “I’m going to go and if it calms down and I feel more comfortable, maybe I’ll come back,” said the popular actress, comedian and presenter.
