“In the original movie, I didn’t have my movie star trailer. It had a small honey cart the size of a urinal, with a Formica table, a plastic chair, and a mirror with light bulbs around it. That is, the classic backstage makeup room. The lights were on a dimmer. I had them low when I was taking a nap around 4am. With my head resting on a tightly rolled towel so as not to stain myself with makeup. I was waiting to be called to the set and I heard a knock on the door. When I sat up, I saw this disfigured face looking back at me in the mirror. The shock made me jump out of my skin. I raised my hand and realized: Oh my God, it’s my own reflection! But it was such an amazing moment that it still haunts a variety of nightmares.”
The performance of Robert Englund was shocking and will always be remembered as the fearsome Freddy Krueger with their faces burned and their glove with blades. A role that she will never repeat and that still haunts her at night.
