The presenter of ‘Despierta América’, Francisca Lachapel, This Sunday she shared some photographs in which she herself describes feeling: “fresh and tropical”. The images again unleashed a barrage of opinions about her afro hair.
In the photographs Francisca can be seen outdoors, posing without makeup, wearing a sports outfit of gray lycra pants and top, as well as a cotton shirt of the same color. As she implied in the text she wrote, she was ready for a little exercise.
“My fresh and tropical Sunday face. Have a nice day. Here I go to move! I started with a shirt and ended up released, ”she wrote at the bottom of the photo gallery.
Internet users almost immediately began to react to the photos, but not very focused on wishing Francisca a happy day. The comments they have left sparked a brawl between those who defend that they have allowed their natural curls to grow and those who want back the straight hair that they wore since the beginning of their career in the artistic medium.
“Francisca you are very pretty but honestly you look much prettier with your straightened hair, it doesn’t matter if it’s short, but straightened it favors you”; “How much is America waking up paying you to have your hair like that?”; “Keep your curls longer, not that afro”; “Let me tell you that you are taking a risk with that look of Obama’s wife who just got up, the itako is going to leave you. Put on your hair and paint that face that you’re on fire”reads the comments left by some detractors.
While those who support the Dominican left opinions such as: “Beautiful with your Natural hair. I did not let you disturb your mind from the envious”; “Beauty, mommy! That hair is already huge, it’s growing super fast. Beautiful!”; “You look divine. Good example for those who just had a baby. Happy Sunday”.
A couple of months ago, Francisca decided to renounce beauty stereotypes that make women with wavy or curly hair struggle to fit into a market with straight hair. In the middle of the “Despierta América” program, she cut off all the hair that she chemically treated to make way for her natural afro growth.
