Klas Berling received a call on April 20 that his son, Tim Berling, better known as Avicii, had taken his life in a hotel in Muscat, Oman. At the time of his death, Avicii was 28 years old.
In “Tim – Avicii’s Official Biography” it is claimed that his last words in his diary were “the outpouring of the soul is the last attachment, before it restarts!”
Fame came to Avicii very quickly with songs like “Levels” (from 2011), “Wake Me Up” (from 2013) and the great “Waiting for Love” (from 2015) in which he had the collaboration of Martin garrix. In turn, he collaborated with artists such as robbie williams (in “The Days”), Rita prays (“Lonely Together”), Lenny Kravitz (“Superlove”) and David Guetta (“Sunshine”).
When the world learned of the young DJ’s departure, the family released an emotional statement “our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An overly successful perfectionist who traveled and worked hard to a rhythm that led him to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he liked best: music.
Aside from record sales and digital downloads, Avicii’s biggest source of income was live performances. In just eight years he did almost 900 shows, it was an average of three per week, added to this were the trips, rehearsals and production.
In the documentary about the DJ, it is pointed out that overwork and alcohol abuse pushed him to collapse. “If I don’t drink, I get more and more nervous before playing. Alcohol slows him down,” Avicii himself said.
His body began to suffer the ravages of abuse, In 2014 he had to undergo surgery on his gallbladder and appendix, added to this he had suffered from pancreatitis due to excessive alcohol consumption.
His last show was in August 2016, in Ibiza, Spain.
Despite the fact that his shows fell apart, his family was his lifeline, he was always surrounded by his girlfriend, Tereza Kacerova and his son Luka, but the strange thing is that this relationship was made public when Avicii died.
It is estimated that Avicii’s fortune exceeded $70 million, which is why he was considered one of the richest men in the world under 30 years of age.
In 2016, when he retired, he was ranked 12th in Forbes.
