There are two types of people in this world: those who prefer large, sandy beaches and those who are always on the lookout for a more hidden and secluded cove than the previous one. In that sense, the Costa Brava is a mine of coves connected, in many cases, by the Caminos de Ronda, which run through the municipalities attached to the coast. From Blanes to the French border, between cliffs and trees or Instagram post houses. There is something for everyone.
Stately Sa Conca
S’Agaro is a place that many celebrities have chosen to spend their holidays. From Ava Gardner or Liz Taylor (they shot there) to Sean Connery or John Wayne, and going through Luis Miguel. A town where you can find coves surrounded by stately homes valued at millions of euros, although Sa Conca stands out among all of them. It extends for 400 meters by 42 wide divided into two sections and separated by the rocky islet of Sa Conca. It has easy access on foot along the coastal path and is made of coarse sand.
Sa Tuna
Sa Tuna is a small cove in Begur that preserves its old fishermen’s houses and also has a small cove on the right-hand side (called S’Eixugador). A wild and beautifully quiet area that, due to its sheltered location and tortuous access, it is always an unexpected discovery for those who visit it. It can be accessed by the Camino de Ronda.
Red Island
Illa Roja cove is another of the most popular in Begur. With more than 180 meters in length, it is known throughout the world as one of the most beautiful and largest in Spain. Its fame is due to its natural environment and its rocky islet that turns red at sunrise and sunset. In addition, it is known for allowing nudism and being one of the quietest coves on the Costa Brava.
Aiguablava
It is one of the most popular coves, not only in Begur but also in all of Catalonia. The sand that makes it up gives rise to a turquoise color to the water that makes it unmistakable and, at the same time, very nice. In addition to its landscape environment makes it unique. The beach, which measures 40 meters long by 80 meters wide, has restrooms and operates a diving and kayak rental center on the shore.
cold water
Small, hidden, enigmatic, spectacular and, above all, beautiful. This is the cove of Aiguagelida (also known as Aigua gelida or Aiguaxelida), a wonderful corner within the reach of any visitor to the Costa Brava who knows where it is and what it offers. Located north of Tamariu. It should be noted that what is considered Aigua Xelida is actually the sum of several smaller coves: Sorellera, In Gotes, Fonts and the central, Grans. All of them are located at the end of a sea tongue that creates a beautiful passageway.
