Seeing that good things happen to good people is very gratifying. Such is the case of a fisherman who became a hero after rescuing 50 people from a shipwreck, since his work was recognized by a businessman who announced that he will give him a house as a reward. This is his story.
José Carlos Lemos, known among his friends as Seu Zezinho, is a man originally from Brazil, who became very popular due to the feat of rescuing the people who were shipwrecked on the boat. Lady Lourdes II.
The accident occurred on September 8, in Cotijuba Belem, a tourist area in Brazil. The brave man did not hesitate to throw his work equipment into the water in order to rescue more people.
All our material fell into the water, but we put it aside and went to rescue people. It was the saddest day of my life, hearing so many people asking for help and not being able to help everyone. My boat is small.
After this feat, the humble fisherman received the Grão-Pará Grau Cavaleiro Order of Merit medal for saving the lives of 50 people who were desperately begging for help.
The feeling of this tribute is one of gratitude. I have no words to say. People call us heroes, but it was something we did from the heart. I never imagined getting to where I am and even talking to the governor.
José’s story went viral, reaching the ears of Brazilian businessman Fritz Paixão, who currently resides in the United States. Fritz immediately began a search to find Zezinho, so through his Instagram he requested help to locate him.
When I learned that Zezinho sold his house to pay for treatment that would save his life as a result of an accident he suffered with his boat, and nine years later that same boat was used to save the lives of 50 people, I understood that God was using me to make up for what he had temporarily lost.
Once Fritz managed to contact Zezinho, the two talked during a live broadcast on Instagram, in which the fisherman told the businessman how he refused the help that the relatives of the shipwreck victims wanted to give him.
It was there in Belem, people wanted to help me, but I didn’t want to, I did everything with my heart and love for others. I cried because they wanted to pay me, but not a single life is paid.
However, Fritz surprised Zezinho by telling him that he would return his house in gratitude for his work. It is worth mentioning that Paixão is the CEO of CleanNew, a chain of franchises specializing in upholstery cleaning, which currently has more than 48 units in different countries. Also, he is known for his philanthropic work.
I’m going to give you your house back, it’s the least I can do to make up for all the loss you’ve had and all the desire you had to help so many people and families.
Grateful, Seu Zezinho couldn’t believe what he was hearing, because it seemed like a dream come true.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. A house that did not have. Thank you, really thank you. May God bless you greatly. I don’t even have words to tell you. An angel that God has placed in our lives.
In addition, Fritz Paixão announced that he would help the fisherman to recover his work material, creating a collective financing to collect donations through Reasons to Believe.
Promise made and mission accomplished! Once again, God uses me to fulfill his purpose to help those who touch my heart. It’s still little compared to what I intend to do one day, but it’s already the path to everything I intend to achieve.
